A class teacher has the following attendance record of 40 students of a class for the whole term. Find the mean number of days a student was present out of 56 days in the term.

Here, a = 51.5 

∴ \(\overline{x}= a+\frac{\Sigma f_id_i}{\Sigma f_i}\)

= 51.5 – \(\frac{99}{40 }\)

= 51.5 – 2.475 

= 49.025 

≃ 49 days
