If the points A(6, 1), B(8, 2), C(9, 4) and D(p, 3) are the vertices of a parallelogram, taken in order, then 

i) find the value of p. 

ii) find the area of ABCD.

i) A, B, C, D are the vertices of a parallelogram 

Mid point of AC =- Mid point of BD

A(6, 1) = (x1, y1); C(9, 4) – (x2, y2)

∴ Area of parallelogram ABCD = 2 x ar ΔABC 3 

= 2 × \(\frac{3}{2}\) = 3 sq. units.
