  • 'Political parties are rightly called the government in disguise' due to the following reasons:
  • These political parties get elected and form a government.
  • They play a decisive role in the making process of the country.
  • Parties that lose in the elections too have an important role to play. They voice different views and criticize government for its failures or wrong policies.
  • They shape public opinion and raise various issues faced by the public. Sometimes political parties launch movements for the resolution of problems faced by people.
  • For an ordinary citizen it is easy to approach a local party leader than a government officer. That is why they feel close to parties even when they do not fully trust them.
