Ionization potential of an element is the amount of energy required to remove one or more electrons from the outermost shell of an isolated gaseous atom. Across a period, the atomic radii decreases due to increase in nuclear charge due to addition of electrons which results in greated attraction of valence shell electrons. Hence, I.P. increases.
