2-phenylethanol can be prepared by the reaction of phenyl magnesium bromide with : 

a) HCHO    b)CH3CHO c) CH3COCH3 d) Epoxyethane

Structure of 2-Phenyl ethanol is Ph-CH2 -CH2 -OH. Phenyl magnesium bromide is Ph-Mg-Br. So, we need to add two carbon in it to get the desired product. Option (a) and option (c) will ad one and three carbon respectively. So they can not be added. The reaction of option (b) and option (d) will be as follows:

So, option (d) will lead to the desired product. Thus, the correct option is (d)
