Since plants produce oxygen during photosynthesis and animals respire in oxygen and respire out carbon dioxide which is further used by plants in photosynthesis. Thus, plants and animals help each other in the exchange of gases.
This continuous exchange of gases maintains the percentage of gases in atmosphere.
