Give reasons in two or three sentences only for the following 

"The species [CuCl4]2- exists, while [CuI4]2- does not."

Both the species contains Cu2+ ions but only iodide ion (not chloride ion) reduces Cu2+ to cuprous iodide and I2.

Hence, [CuI4]2- does not exist.

2CuI2 → Cu2I2 + I2
