1 Kilowatt hour is the amount of energy consumed at the rate of 1 Kilowatt for 1 hour.

1 Kilowatt hour = 1 Kilowatt for 1 hour

 = 1000 Watt for 1 hour

 = 1000 Watt × 3600 seconds (60 × 60 seconds = 1 hour)

 = 36,00,000 Joules

So, 1 KWh = 3.6 × 106 J = 1 unit
