The albatross was not afraid of human beings. It ate the food that the sailors gave to him. He kept on flying ‘round and round’ the ship. He followed the ship every day either for food or for play. The sailors hailed it in God’s name as he was the first living creature that was seen in the land of mist, snow and ice bergs.
