The lines of the ninth stanza reflect the irony of the situation. The poet uses the ‘alliteration’ and ‘repetition’ very effectively. ‘Water, water everywhere, Nor any drop to drink.’ Really the condition of the mariners was very pathetic. Ironically, water was all around but they had not even a drop of water that they could drink and wet their throats. Naturally, they couldn’t drink the sea water which was not suitable for drinking.
