At the beginning of the journey the weather was quite pleasant. The voyage began with celebrations, hope and warmth. The weather was fine and bright. The ‘sun came up from the left’ and it appeared to be coming ‘out of the sea’. It ‘shone bright and on the right went down into the sea’. This weather was quite in contrast with the hostile weather that was to follow it.
