After discount cost of each book = 125 - 25 = 100

books                 price of each book

40                                 125

?(x)                                100

let x no. of books can be bought after discount

Indirect variation (more books can be bought if price becomes less)

x/40 = 125/100

or, x/40 = (125*40)/100

or, x = 5000/100 = 50
