Consider a simple ideal Rankine cycle that uses steam as the working fluid. The high pressure side of the cycle of this supercritical pressure. This cycle has the potential advantage of reducing local temperature differences between the fluids in the steam generator, as is the case where the high-temperature energy source is the hot discharge gas of a gas turbine engine. Calculate the thermal efficiency of the cycle if the turbine inlet conditions are 25 mpa and 500 C, and the pressure in the condenser is 5 kPa. What is the quality of the steam at the turbine outlet?
