A student wants to project the image of a candle flame on to a screen using a mirror the candle flame is at a distance of 23 cm in the front of the mirror while the screen is placed at a distance of 92 cm from the mirror. Explain: 

a) Write the type of mirror 

b) Calculate the magnification

(a) concave mirror

(b) object distance u = -92 cm

image distance v = -23 cm

magnification  

m = \(-\frac{v}{u}=(\frac{-23}{-92})\) 

= - 0.25

The negative sign in magnification shows that the image formed is real and in verted.
