Let vector a = αi + 2j - 3k, vector b = i + 2αj - 2k and vector c = 2i - αj + k. Find the value(s) of α, if any, such that {vector(a x b) x (b x c)} x (c x a) = 0.  Find the vector product when α = 0.

leads to the equation 2 α3 + 10 α + 12 = 0, α2 + 6α = 0 and 6α – 6 = 0, which do not have a common solution.
