A series circuit contains a resistor of 10 Ω , a capacitor, an ammeter of negligible resistance. It is connected to a source 220V-50 Hz, if the reading of an ammeter is 2.0 A, calculate the reactance of the capacitor.

V = 220√2 cos (2π (50) t)

 

V 220√2 = cos (100πt) 

\(\overset\sim V\) = 220√2 ∠0     .....(i)

Now let ‘C’ be the capacitance of the circuit;
