A mass of 6 kg is suspended by a rope of length 2 m form the ceiling. A force of 50 N in the horizontal direction is applied at the mid Point P of the rope- as shown in figure. what is the angle the rope makes with the vertical in equilibrium ? (g = 10 ms–2) Neglect mass of the rope.

Correct option: (A) 40°

Explanation:

T1 sin θ = 50

T1 cos θ = 60 (weight of body = m × g = 6 × 10 = 60 N)

tan θ = (5 / 6)

θ = tan–1(5 / 6)

θ = 39.8

θ = 40°
