Assertion : A light body and heavy body have same momentum. Then they also have same kinetic energy.

Reason : Kinetic energy does not depend on mass of the body.

(1) If both assertion and reason and the reason is the correct explanation of the Assertion.

(2) If both assertion and reason are true but reason is not the correct explanation of the assertion.

Correct option: (d)

Explanation:

momentum = mass × velocity i.e. p = mv

kinetic energy = (1/2) × mass × (velocity)2 i.e. KE = (1/2)mv2 = (p2 / 2m)

kinetic energy is function of mass of body and even though momentum is same kinetic energy is function of mass of body.
