Actually Hydrouoric acid is a very strong mineral acid which is a highly toxic and corrosive solution of Hydrogen fluoride in water. It has a strong tendency to dissolve any of the oxides. So, when the acid is treated over the glass, it reacts with the measure component silicon oxide of the glass and dissolves that oxide. In this way, the glassware is dissolved in this acid.
