Statement -1 : The angular momentum of a particle moving in a circular orbit with a constant speed remains conserved about any point on the circumference of the circle.

Statement -2 : If no net torque outs, the angular momentum of a system is conserved.

(A) Statement - 1 is correct (true), Statement - 2 is true and Statement- 2 is correct explanation for Statement - 1

(B) Statement -1 is true, statement -2 is true but statement-2 is not the correct explanation four statement -1.

Best answer

Correct option: (D) Statement-2 is false, statement -2 is true

Explanation:

Centripetal force is radial. Torque due to this force is zero about centre

Hence angular momentum is conserved only about centre of circle. Hence statement I is false. If no net torque outs angular momentum is conserved.
