The perimeter of a rectangle is 60 meter and its length is one meter more than twice the breadth. What are its length and breadth.

Let length and breadth of the rectangle be l and b respectively.

Then 

\(P = 2(l + b) = 60 m\)

⇒ \(l + b = 30 m\)

Also, given that \(l(2b + 1)\)

\(\therefore\) From (i),

\((2b + 1) +b = 30\)

⇒ \(3b = 30 - 1 = 29\)

⇒ \(b = \frac {29}3 m\)

\(\therefore l = \left(2\times \frac{29}3 + 1\right)m = \frac{58 + 3}{3} m = \frac{61}3 m\)
