The resistance of two resistance wires are R1 = (100 ± 5)Ω and R2 = (200 ± 7)Ω are connected in series. Find the maximum absolute error in the equivalent resistance of the combination.

Explanation:

Series connection = R1 + R2

equivalent resistance = R = R1 + R2

 = (100 ± 5) + (200 ± 7)

= 300 ± 12Ω

 maximum absolute error = 12Ω
