One micro-ammeter has a resistance of 100Ω and a full scale range of 50 μA. ft can be used as a voltmeter or as a higher range ammeter provided a resistance is added to it. Pick the correct range and resistance combinations (s). 

(A) 5 mA range with 1Ω resistance in parallel

(B) 10mA range with 1Ω resistance in parallel 

(C) 10V range with 200kΩ resistance in series 

(D) 50V range with 10kΩ resistance in series

The correct option is (C) 10V range with 200kΩ resistance in series.

Explanation:

Way 1: 

By checking options, [10 / (200kΩ)] = 50μA = Full scale range 

Hence C is the answer 

Way 2: I = [V / (G + R)] 

∴ 50 × 10–6 = [10 / (100 + R)] 

∴ 100 + R = [10 / (50 × 10–6)] 

100 + R = 0.2 × 106 

∴ R = 199.9 KΩ 

R = 200KΩ 

∴ V = 10V with 200kΩ in series.
