On a hot day at Ahmadabad a trucker loaded 37,000 L of diesel fuel. He delivered the diesel at Srinagar (Kashmir) Where the temperature was lower then that of Ahmadabad by 23 k. How many liters did he deliver? For diesel γ = 3 α = 9 50 × 10–4–1 (Neglect the thermal expansion / Contrition of steel tank of the trunk)

(A) 808 L

(B) 36,190 L

(C) 37808 L

(D) 37,000 L

Best answer

The correct option is (B) 36,190 L.

Explanation:

Volume = V = 37000 liter

ΔT = 23 k

As temperature decreases, volume also decreases &

γ = coefficient of volume expansion is 9.5 × 10–4/°C.

ΔV = γV ΔT

= 9.5 × 10–4 × 37000 × 23

= 808.4 liter

This change has to be negative

∴ amount delivered = 37,000 – 808.4

= 36,191 liter

= 36,190 liter
