For particles A and B executing S.H.M., the equation for displacement is given by y1 = 0.1sin (100t + p/3) and y2 = 0.1 cos pt respectively. The phase difference between velocity of particle A with respect to that of B is……..

(A) – (π/3)

(B) (π/6)

(C) – (π/6)

(D) (π/3)

The correct option   (C) – (π/6)

Explanation:

y1= 0.1 sin{100t + (π/3)} & y2 = 0.1 cos pt

∴ V1 = {dy1/at} = 0.1 × 100 cos {100t × (π/3)} & V2 = {dy2/dt}

= 0.1p (– sin pt)

 i.e. V1 = 10 cos {100t + (π/3)} & V2 = 0.1p cos {pt + (π/2)}

∴ Phase difference between velocities = (π/3) – (π/2)

= – (π/6)
