Best answer

The correct option (A) 8, along negative x - axis

Explanation:

V(x, y, z) = 4x2 volt

vector E = – [i˄(dV/dx) + j˄(dV/dy) + k˄(dV / dz)] -------- as E = [(– dV)/dr]

as V = 4x2, (dV/dx) = 8x, (dV/dy) = 0, & (dV/dz) = 0

∴ E = – 8x i˄

∴ Electric field at (1, 0.2) is (– 8 × 1)i = – 8i

i.e. 8 V/m along negative x axis
