The correct option (b) If both assertion and reason are true but reason is not the correct explanation of the assertion.

Explanation:

If a proton & electron are placed in the same uniform electric field they experience different acceleration. 

Electric force on test charge is independent of its mass. 

Hence both statements are true. But reason is not explanation of assertion.
