If, by a rotation of rectangular axes about the origin, (ax²+2hxy+by²) and (cx²+2gxy+dy²) be changed to

(a'x'²+2h'x'y'+b'y'²) and (c'x'²+2g'x'y'+dy'²) respectively, then show that

ad+bc-2hg = a'd' +b'c'-2h'g' and ac+bd+2hg = a'c'+b'd'+2h'g'.
