Find the current measured by the ammeter in the circuit shown in figure.

(A) Zero 

(B) 0.4 A.

The correct option (B) 0.4A  

Explanation:

Let total current be I. In figure (a), total current will split at I/2 and I/2 A at point P. At point ɸ & R current will divide further and equal and opposite current will flow through vertical 50Ω resistor. Hence net current flow in 50Ω resistor will be O. 

Similarly current flow in another 50Ω resistance is also 0. hence circuitreducy as in figure (b) 

∴ Req = (10 + 10 + 10) || (10 + 10 + 10) 

= 30 || 30 = 15Ω 

∴ Current by ammeter is 

I = (V/Req) = (6/15) = (2/5) = 0.4A
