Newton's Law of Gravitation: It states that the gravitational force of attraction acting between any two bodies of the universe is directly proportional to the product of their masses and is inversely proportional to the square of the distance between them. i.e.
\(F = \frac{Gm_1m_2}{r^2}\)
where,
G = universal gravitational constant
= 6.67 x 10-11 N-m2/kg2
• According to the Newton's second law, the magnitude of gravitational force is equal to the product of mass of body and acceleration.
• The value of gravitational constant is determined by Henry Cavendish.
