Best answer

Correct option is (b) 6 cm, 8 cm

Using Pythagoras theorem,

\(h^2 = p^2 + b^2\)

\((10)^2 = x^2 + (x + 2)^2\)

\(100 = x^2 + x^2 + 4 + 4x\)

\(2x^2 + 4x - 96 = 0\)

\(x^2 + 2x - 48 = 0\)

\(x^2 + 8x - 6x - 48 = 0\)

\(x(x + 8) - 6(x + 8) = 0\)

\((x - 6) (x + 8) = 0\)

\(x = 6\)

\( x \ne -8\) (neglected)

Since, length never be -ve.

Perpendicular = 6 cm

Base = 6 + 2 = 8 cm
