Predict the type of bonding (Electrovalent or Covalent) likely to be formed when pairs of elements having following atomic numbers combine:

(i) 3 and 7

(ii) 6 and 9

(iii) 11 and 16

(iv) 14 and 12

(i) 3 and 7 - Electrovalent - electrons in the valence shell are transferred from one atom to the other

(ii) 6 and 9 - Covalent - electrons are shared between two atoms

(iii) 11 and 16 - Electrovalent - electrons in the valence shell are transferred from one atom to the other

(iv) 14 and 12 - Covalent - electrons are shared between two atoms
