A charge Q is to be divided on two objects. What should be the value of the charges on the two objects, so that the force between them can be maximum?

 If a + b constant, than a x b is maximum when a = b. 

Let the charges divided on the two objects be q and Q-q 

so that the force between them is 

i.e, the charge must be equally divided.
