Two concentric circles are of radii 5 cm and 3 cm. Find the length of the chord of the larger circle which touches the smaller circle?

Solution: OS = 5 cm
OT = 3 cm
ST2 = OS2 – OT2
Or, ST2 = 25 – 9 = 16
Or, ST = 4
So, SP = 8 cm
