A 25.0 μ,F capacitor, a 0.10 H inductor and a 25.0 Ω resistor are connected in series with an a.c. source of emf E = 310 sin 314 t .

Find (i) the frequency of the emf,

(ii) the reactance of the circuit,

(iii)  the impedance of the circuit,

(iv)  the current in the circuit and

(v) the phase angle. Also find the effective voltages across the capacitor, inductor and resistor.

(i)  The given emf is E = 310 sin 314 t.

Comparing it with E = E0 sin ωt, we have

(ii) The inductive reactance is 

XL = ωL = 314s-1 x 0.10 H = 31.4 Ω
