When chloroform and acetone are mixed they exhibit negative deviation from ideal behavior because intermolecular hydrogen bonds are formed between molecules of acetone and chloroform. Since the hydrogen bonds are comparatively stronger forces of attraction, the volume of the solution decreases. Therefore, the volume of the resulting solution will be less than 100ml.
