SL NO TEMPORARY HARDNESS PERMANENT HARDNESS
1 It is due to the presence of magnesium and calcium bicarbonates. It is due to the presence of salts of magnesium and calcium in the form of their chlorides and sulphates
2 It can be removed by boiling or by adding slaked lime to hard water It can be removed by treating with Na2CO3 or by ion exchange method
