The mass of moon is M/81 (where M is mass of earth). Find the distance of the point where the gravitational field due to earth and moon cancel each other. Given distance of moon from earth is 60 R, where R is radius of earth.

Gravitational field at C due to earth = Gravitational field at C due to earth moon

81x2 = (60 R – x)2 

9x = 60 R – x 

x = 6 R.
