Moles of chlorine = 71 / 71 = 1,

So, moles of metallic chloride = 1,

Therefore, molar mass of M = 95 - 71 = 24 g

So, clearly the metal is Mg.

Here, n-factor = 2

Hence, EqWt (MCl2) = 95 / 2 = 47.5 g
