When the nucleus of copper (A = 65, Z = 29) is bombarded with neutrons, γ rays are emitted and the resultant nucleus is radioactive emitting β rays. If the disintegration constant λ is 0.00231 s –1, calculate the half life and average life of the radioactive product.

Half life T = 0.693/λ = 0.693/0.00231 = 300 s 

[λ = 0.00231 s-1]
