A particle is projected vertically upwards from a point A on the ground. It takes a time t1 to reach a point B at a height h above the ground as it continues to move, it takes a further time t2 to reach the ground. 

Find (i) The height h 

(ii) The maximum height reached 

(iii) The velocity of the particle at half the maximum height.

(i) Find the initial velocity u in terms of t1 and t2 . Use the equations of motion with uniform acceleration. The acceleration due to gravity is taken with a negative sign.

Let u be initial velocity.
