Difference between Centrosome and Centriole are-

Centrosome Centriole
Definition An organelle made of two centrioles A structure made of microtubules that are organized in a particular way
Size  Variable, bigger than a centriole, based largely on the extent of the pericentriolar material It has dimensions of about 200 nm wide and 500 nm long
Formation Pericentriolar material organizes and arranges centrioles into centrosome Proteins starting with SPD-2 and SAS-4, SAS-5, SAS-6 and others
Location Near the nucleus of protist and animal cells Near the nucleus and surface of the cell membrane in animals and protist cells
Function Produces spindle fibers during cell divisions; plays a role in intracellular transport Forms a centrosome to produce the spindle during cell division; forms basal bodies that produce cillia and flagella
