Best answer

Circuit switching – when communication needs to take place, a dedicated path is opened end to end for the duration of the communication session. An example would be plain old telephone service.

Packet switching – is taking data and breaking it into little packages, or packets. Those packets are then sent across a network. The path that those packets take are not dedicated. So, individual packets may take separate paths on the network to get to the destination. This is how the internet works.
