2.2 cubic dm of lead is to be drawn into a cylindrical wire 0.50 cm diameter. Find the length of the wire in metres.

Let the length of the wire be h metres. Then, 

π(0.50/(2 x 100))2 x h = 2.2/1000 

h = ( (2.2/1000) x (100 x 100)/(0.25 x 0.25) x (7/22) ) 

= 112 m.
