Best answer

Suppose the frequency of the first fork is f, then frequency of the last fork

= f + (56 - 1) x 4 = f + 220

Given (f + 220) = 2f

∴ f = 220 Hz

Now the frequency of the 40th fork

= f + (40 - 1) x 4

= 220 + 39 x 4

= 376 Hz
