Find the position of an image formed by an optical system consisting of a concave mirror with a focal length of 10 cm and a converging lens whose focal length is 20 cm. The distance from the mirror to the lens is 30 cm; from the lens to the object 40 cm. Construct the image graphically.

Answer: a2 = 100 cm. See Fig..

Explanation:

In the calculation, take into account the fact that the first image formed by the lens lies behind the mirror. In the construction, it is more convenient to take the rays travelling parallel to the optical axis and through the front focus of the lens.
