A steam turbine receives water at 2000 lbf/in.2, 1200 F at a rate of 200 lbm/s . In the middle section 40 lbm/s is withdrawn at 300 lbf/in.2, 650 F and the rest exits the turbine at 10 lbf/in.2, 95% quality.  Analyse the steam turbine Is it possible?

C.V. Turbine. Steady flow and adiabatic.

Since it is positive => possible.

Notice the entropy is increasing through turbine: s1 < s2 < s3
