India has been maintaining good relations with all countries which are post-communist in nature. But the strongest relations are between Russia and India. Indo-Russian relations in the post-cold period :

1. Indo-Russian relations are initiated in the history of trust and common interests and the same are matched by great perceptions.

2. Russia and India always share a vision of polarised world order. It maintains the co-existence of multiple powers in the international scenario, collective security which means an attack on any country will be regarded as a threat to all countries and a response will be done with immediate effect. Major stress has been given on regionalism, negotiated settlements of global conflicts, an independent foreign policy for all countries are the main criteria.
