A 230 V, single-phase domestic energy meter has a constant load of 4 A passing through it for 6 hours at unity power factor. If the motor disc makes 2208 revolution during this period, what is the constant in rev kWh ? Calculate the power factor of the load if the No. of rev made by the meter are 1472 when operating at 230 V and 5 A for 4 hours.

Best answer

Energy supplied at unity p.f. = 230 × 4 × 6 × 1/1000 = 5.52

∴ 230 × 5 × 4 × cos φ/2000 = 3.68

∴ cos φ = 0.8
