If x is any real number then show that cos θ cannot be equal to x + 1/x.

We know,

Range of cos θ is -1.

If cos θ = x + 1/x

if x > 1 then 1/x < 1

Ultimately x + 1/x > 1

Which shows, cos θ > 1 which is not possible.
